A & M Transport is a transportation company engaged primarily in hauling truckload shipments of general commodities in both interstate and intrastate commerce. A & M Transport was founded by Andy and Marian Owens on March 3, 1989 and is located in Glendale Oregon. The Company is owned and managed by the Owens family and now proudly employs 3 generations of family members.
A & M Transport operates throughout Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada and Arizona with most of the activity occurring on the I-5 corridor. The principal types of freight transported by the Company include consumer products, retail store merchandise, food products, paper products, beverages ( alcoholic and non-alcoholic), industrial products, steel products, lumber and other building materials.
The Companys’ business philosophy is to provide a superior service to its customers at an affordable cost along with hauling loads at maximum weights. To accomplish this, A & M operates premium, modern tractors and trailers spec’d out in such a manner as to allow for sufficient comfort for the drivers while providing maximum load carrying capacity. The A & M fleet consists of late model, 3 axle, conventional tractors pulling 53ft dry vans, 45 & 48 ft tautliners and 45 & 48ft flatbed trailers.
The Company takes an aggressive, pro-active approach on maintenance to assure that the service to its customers is not interrupted by excessive equipment failures. To accomplish this, the Company owns and operates its own repair facilities which is staffed with well trained and qualified mechanics. In addition, the Company has developed a diverse database of on-road repair facilities to assure that on-road break downs are dealt with in a timely and adequate manner.
The Company recognizes that its professional driver workforce is one of its most valuable assets. A & M drivers are compensated based upon miles driven. The rate of pay per mile increases with the drivers’ length of service with the company. Drivers payroll checks are issued weekly. Additional compensation may be earned through various bonus programs and for work associated with their job (ie: loading and unloading, extra stops, tarping and untarping, etc. ). In addition to mileage compensation, the Company makes available to its employees, a health insurance program, life insurance program, dental insurance program, vision insurance program and a 401K retirement plan. Paid vacation is also available for qualifying employees.
